Description

At around 3 pm on 11 December 1995, the terrorist organisation ETA set off a car bomb containing fifty kilograms of explosives just as a Navy van was crossing the Vallecas Bridge. Six civilian workers from the Navy’s automobile fleet were killed in the blast as they were returning home after completing their day’s work. They were Manuel Carrasco Almansa, Santiago Esteban Junquer, José Ramón Intriago Esteban, Florentino López del Castillo, Félix Ramos Bailón and Martín Rosa Valera. Another 17 other people were wounded in the explosion, five seriously, and the blast caused major damage, including to a school bus which had just dropped thirty children off at a nearby school. It was one of the deadliest attacks in ETA’s history.

Félix Ramos Bailón, originally from Madrid, was 55 years old and married with three children. He was a panel beater in the Navy, which he had joined in 1980. He was buried in Carabanchel cemetery.
