Description

The attack took place in the town square of Ispáster (Vizcaya), shortly after Manuel Vicente González Vilorio and the mayor had visited the site where a new pelota court was being built. Manuel was with the mayor of Ispáster, José María Juaristi, of the PNV, and the deputy mayor. He was shot eight times in the back by two ETA members, a man and a woman, and died instantly. The mayor also suffered minor injuries in the hand from a stray bullet. The terrorists fled in a car they had earlier stolen at gunpoint.
