A few minutes before nine o’clock in the evening, Luis Reina Mesonero entered the doorway of his house and removed a parcel from his post box. A few months earlier he had suffered a stroke that had left him with impaired hearing and eyesight. He therefore had to hold the parcel close to his eyes to read the label. At that moment, it exploded, causing him fatal wounds to the head and chest.

The terrorist group acknowledged its “error”, mistaking Luis Reina for the owner of a car and motorcycle dealership with the same surname.
