Description
On the morning of 29 July 1979, the political-military faction of the terrorist organisation ETA sowed panic among the population of Madrid with a series of attacks at Barajas Airport and Chamartín and Atocha rail stations, killing seven people and wounding nearly a hundred others.
At 1.15 pm, barely fifteen minutes after the first bomb exploded in Barajas, and five minutes after the second explosion in Chamartín, a third bomb went off in a suitcase in the left luggage office at Atocha station. As a result, four people were killed and another forty were wounded. One of those to die was Juan Luna Azol, a 53-year-old retired civil guard.
