Description
At around 8:45 pm on the evening of 7 June 1983, two terrorist members of the Comandos Autónomos Anticapitalistas (Autonomous Anti-Capitalist Units) assassinated Francisco Machío Martos in Azpeitia.
The unmasked terrorists walked into the Amaya Bar where the victim was having a glass of wine at the bar counter with two friends, and shot him at point-blank range. He fell to the ground, where the killers finished him off with a second shot. He died almost instantly from his head injuries. The terrorists then walked quickly out of the bar, still carrying their guns. A third terrorist was waiting for them in a getaway car in the town square.
Barely ten people came to Francisco Machío’s funeral and no public authorities attended.
