Description
Just before 8 pm, retired colonel Daniel Henríquez García was returning to his home in the Deusto district of Bilbao after buying some newspapers. He got out of his car and was walking to the main door of his apartment block when four ETA members opened fire with a machine-gun from a nearby car, killing him instantly.
Three years earlier, a terrorist unit had come to his home to try to kidnap him, but had fled when one of the officer’s daughters opened the door and started screaming.
