Description
Ambrosio Fernández Recio was a 79-year-old pensioner living in Mondragon. On 5 January 2007, organised rioters attacked the offices of the Caixa bank on the ground floor of the apartment block where he lived. The assailants used threw petrol bombs which started a major fire, destroying the bank and forcing the evacuation of the rest of the building. Ambrosio Fernández’s health deteriorated after the incident. He spent two months in the Intensive Care unit and died in March. He has received official recognition as a victim of terrorism.
