Ce serait inutile car, s\u2019ils veulent me tuer, ils le feront par derri\u00e8re\u201d. La nuit du 26 novembre 1977 il quitta le groupe d\u2019amis avec qui il avait jou\u00e9 aux cartes au Casino Eslava, et se dirigea vers le parking o\u00f9 il avait gar\u00e9 son v\u00e9hicule pour rentrer chez lui dans la caserne de Beloso. Avant d\u2019arriver \u00e0 la voiture, des membres de l\u2019ETA tir\u00e8rent sur lui neuf coups de feu par derri\u00e8re, le dernier dans la t\u00eate quand le commandant \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 terre. Sa fille unique, Carmen, \u00e2g\u00e9e de sept ans, ahurie par la confusion qui r\u00e9gnait tout \u00e0 coup chez elle, commen\u00e7a \u00e0 soup\u00e7onner ce qui \u00e9tait arriv\u00e9.
