Le chef de gare et plusieurs clients d\u2019un bar proche de l\u00e0 entendirent les coups de feu et accoururent pour secourir la victime qui \u00e9tait encore en vie malgr\u00e9 les vingt impacts de balle. Le sous-commissaire Sergio Canal mourut une demi-heure apr\u00e8s l\u2019attentat alors qu\u2019il \u00e9tait op\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4pital civil de Bilbao.
