Description

At around 9.15 pm on the night of 9 July 1979, Jordanian student Mohamed Aref Musa was walking along the Gran Vía. According to eye-witnesses, on the corner of Mesonero Romanos Street, a man of Arab appearance shot him in the back at close range. The assailant took advantage of the commotion and the large numbers of people in the area to get away. The young man, aged 24, was admitted to the Francisco Franco Hospital, where he underwent surgery but died some hours later. The security forces attributed the killing to Al-Fatah.

Description

Walid Jamal Balkiz worked at the Jordanian Embassy. At around 3 pm on 29 December 1983, he left the embassy building at 41, Calle General Martínez Campos, to return home with a Jordanian colleague, Ibrahime Subhi Mohamed Mamid. The two men got into Walid Jamal Balkiz’s car. When they stopped at a Yield sign at No. 84, Calle García de Paredes, to turn onto Calle Zurbano, an individual armed with a submachine gun walked up to the driver’s window and opened fire on the two occupants. Most of the 15 gunshots hit Walid Jamal Balkiz, who was driving the car, two in the head, and he was killed instantly. His companion dropped to the floor and managed to survive the attack, but he was seriously wounded by several bullets in the arms and collarbone.

Description

At around nine o’clock on the morning of 3 March 1980, Said Alí Salmon, a Palestinian citizen, was waiting at No. 19 Calle Eduardo Dato for Max Mazin, president of the Jewish community in Madrid, to leave in his car. He planned to assassinate him. However, one of Mazin’s neighbours, with whom he bore a certain resemblance, drove out first. Adolfo Cotelo Villareal, a lawyer, was about to drive two of his daughters to school. When he stopped at a traffic light on Calle Eduardo Dato, roughly outside Number 21, the assassin approached the passenger window of the car and opened fire on the driver with a machine gun, killing him instantly. One of his daughters, who was sitting in the front seat, was hit by shards of glass from the car window and lost ninety per cent of her sight in her right eye.
